Eliminated

Today has not been a good day. At 1:30 today I was notified, along with the rest of my office, that next Friday, April 17 will be the last day my paper, the Carson Times, will run. As of that day, all of the positions except one in our Carson office will be eliminate. Unfortunately, my position was not the one that was the exception.

I will get a two week severence package that will take me through the end of the month, including my benefits (which is good because we have a doctor's appointment on April 20 to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time). After that, I will be one of the many filing an unemployment claim weekly. AND THANK GOD Obama just passed that bill so the government will supplement the COBRA packages, because that means I will have affordable heath care over the next 18 months, taking me well through November.

So, what will I do next? I have no clue....I have a couple of possible job leads that I've had on the backburner for awhile. Hopefully one of those will pan out and I won't be unemployed for too long. I was extremely upset when I found out, just because of my current situation. But after thinking about everything and discussing it with Adam, who came home early to be my support system, I remembered that everything happens for a reason and I know things will turn out for the better. Adam and I are in a good place, financially and in our relationship, and I know we can get through this on the upside!

What I need now from everyone is positive thoughts and any possible local job leads you may have! The sun will come out tomorrow, I'm sure of it!
