Treadmill, take II

First...sorry it's been forever. I've been so busy at work that I haven't had time nor wanted to make time to blog when I have had it. Basically, I went on a mini-strike! Now on to my topic today...

Adam and I bought a really nice treadmill, which was delivered earlier this month. We put the thing together, I put my workout clothes on, got my water, put on a movie and plugged it in. Nothing. I repeated the process several times and still nothing. I asked Adam for help and he had no luck either. We took the console apart and some of the wires were loose. We called the company and they sent us a new console. Nothing.

So, we called the company again and the new replacement will be here tomorrow. We're going to hook up the wires for the base and console and see what happens when we plug it in. Adam and I are fairly smart people and usually have no problem putting things together, but this thing has kicked our butts! I almost feel it would be better to just hire the company to come out and put it together...Adam thinks we should be able to do it ourselves...I guess we'll find out soon!

Hope everyone is having a great week and I'll report again soon!

Treadmill

Adam and I ordered a treadmill last week as my Christmas gift...and it will be delivered TOMORROW!!! I'm so excited! I love walking/running on treadmills at the gym...but now that I am so busy with work, I really like my time at home. Now, I can enjoy the treadmill in the comfort of my own home!!!

With the food changes we're making, and the addition of (hopefully) regular exercise, I'm hoping to really be able to lose some weight. And by making the food and exercise changes now, Adam and I are hoping it will be easier to maintain once we (as in me) finally do get pregnant.

So...keep your fingers that putting this bad boy together won't be too difficult so I can get on it asap!

2.8

Is the number of pounds I’ve lost over the last week!!! Yay!!!

As many of you know, last week was a difficult food week for me because my brother-in-law and his wife were in town. We spent a ton of time with Adam’s family, which usually means a lot of eating…and not healthy food, either! We had several big meals, including two meals out, one of which was a buffet.

To try to offset the eating that would commence last week, I joined Weight Watchers, and tracked what I ate, planned for healthier options for the meals out and focused on trying to eat proper portions. I know I didn’t eat as well as I could have, but I truly believe that I did SOOOOOOO much better than if I had started WW last week!

What makes me feel even better about my weight loss is that I started my period this weekend, and I usually gain about 3-4 lbs of water weight…which means I probably would have lost more than the 2.8 lbs if I hadn’t been on my period. Next week should hopefully be another outstanding loss!

One thing to throw out there for the few people who have mentioned possibly joining…the new WW Momentum plan has a pretty impressive track record. You know how most weight loss programs usually have a “*Results not typical?” Well, while WW was testing this program, the participants had an AVERAGE WEEKLY WEIGHT LOSS OF 2 POUNDS!!!!! That is absolutely amazing! The program is all about simplifying what you eat…focusing on lean meats, whole grain breads, pastas, rice, etc, skim/fat-free milk products, lots of veggies and fruit, and moderate exercise. WW is really trying to get people away from eating processed foods and eating fresh, simple foods. I like it!

Hope you all are having a great first full week of the New Year! I know I am!

Family Weight Loss Challenge

If you are motivated by a little extra cash in your pocket, here's an idea that my family is doing to help us all lose a little weight.

We are doing a 12 week Family Weight Loss Challenge. The five participating family members have put $10 into a pot. The goal for each person is to lose as much weight as possible by the end of the 12 week period, and the person who has lost the largest percentage of their starting body mass will get the money. We decided not to base on pounds because some of us (me) have more to lose than others (my father-in-law), and this is the best and most fair way for all of us to participate.

The last challenge we did was $20 each, and my mother-in-law lost a whopping 21 lbs and won $80! I wasn't motivated during the last go around, but I definitely am this time! We weigh in on Monday and go until March 30.

Good luck if you decide to use this program!
